Get NZ Writing

Over the past two weeks Room 7 have been learning how to write effective metaphors. A metaphor is a direct comparison to an object/thing.

I have been super impressed by all the students' efforts throughout this activity. We have sent all our metaphors to Kawerau School, near Rotorua. The reverse side of the metaphor postcards make a puzzle with another metaphor on it, "Every person is a new door to a different world" 

We are now in the process of writing metaphor poems about ourselves. We will share these on our learning blog's soon!

Sports Activator - Soccer

We have had two sessions with our new sports activator - Shea. He has been taking us through some soccer skills to prepare us for the upcoming football tournament in Balclutha on Tuesday 10th April. 

We practiced some dribbling skills, making sure we are kicking the soccer ball with the inside of our foot and keeping the ball close to us so it doesn't get away on us. 

After our dribbling skills were up to scratch we practiced weaving the ball through cones and then aiming for the goal. 

We are also practicing these skills in our PE sessions at the moment.
