LOVE LETTERS

This year we have again sent "love letters" to the Community Organisation that arranges these letters to be sent to Starship Hospital to help brighten the beds of sick children. We love doing this, and Room 7 are so excited to be sending more than 60 letters this time.

It's important that we take the time to help others and also to be so thankful for our own good health. Thanks Room 7 - I am really proud to be sending these!

Welcome back for the 2016 School Year!!!

We have unpacked and settled down nicely. This term we are going to be really busy with a few short weeks thrown in (Otago Anniversary and Easter). We are looking forward to jumping into the new swimming pool too!

We welcome a couple of new faces to LAS this year - Paige and Kaitlin O'Neill and also Jacob Deal (although Jacob did attend for the last two weeks of 2015). We hope you love our school, and our class, as much as we do!

Please remember to bring drink bottles to school, it's going to stay warm for a while (we hope!) Hats are to be worn in the playground at morning tea and lunch time, as well as for P.E.

Let the fun begin!!!

Symmetry - Art meets Maths

Room 7 have been learning about rotational and line symmetry. To help us understand, we have been using origami and four simple folds to create symmetrical relief designs. Pretty cool!!! We love it when Maths meets other subjects!!!

Clued Up Kids

This morning Year 6 headed off to Balclutha to take part in Clued Up Kids with more than 100 other students from the area. We took part in 10 activities, including relaxing and deep breathing, bike helmets and riding safely, gun safety, beach safety, what to do in a house fire, an earthquake or when you meet a strange dog, and also how to be as safe as possible in an earthquake. Students also learned basic first aid and quad bike safety.

Year 6 had a great time learning these new skills and their behaviour was fantastic. They were enthusiastic, excited and eager to learn. Every student came home with an information to share with their family and friends.
