STEM - preparing for the fair!

Over the past two weeks we have been busy getting our stall ready for the School Fair. (HAPPENING NEXT FRIDAY - 12th APRIL!)

Our stall is a chocolate wheel so we decided to design and make a mock up of the chocolate wheel so Miss Taylor could get one made for the class.

Here are some pictures from the creating stage yesterday. The class voted for Ava and Emily's design to be the one that would get made into the real version!

Morning Programme - Animal Appreciation

Over the last two weeks we have been very lucky to have some furry visitors to the class. Emily, Annabelle and Angus all shared their Morning Programme on Animal Appreciation. Thank you to Christine, Jude and Charmaine for bringing in their precious pets!

Emily brought in the Harrex's new puppy - Rosie!

Annabelle brought in the Patterson's retired farm dog - Willie!

Angus brought in his pet ferret - Boys!

Scraffito Self Portraits

Our art theme this term is 'Self Portraits'. Our latest activity was scraffito art, where we had to fully colour in a background and then paint over the colour with black paint. Once the paint was dry we scratched out our self portrait. We found that the other end of a pencil or paint brush and a ruler were the best tools to use to scratch out the paint. We think they look awesome!!

Maths

With the triathlon happening today we have a much smaller class in Room 7. For maths today we played a card game called "Fishy Fishy". The game was looking at making ten and number bonds to 10. Like the card game go fish, in Fishy Fishy we had to make pairs of numbers but this time the pairs had to equal 10. A very easy game to play with a small group.

STEM

Today the wind and the rain brought a change of temperature to Lawrence. For today's STEM challenge (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) groups had the challenge of building a fort/tent to stay sheltered from the wind and rain. The only equipment students could use were: newspaper, masking tape and 2 other class objects. All members of the group had to fit in the shelter and stay warm and dry.

Check out the photos from today's fun!

Berwick Camp 2019

We had a fantastic week at camp! Thank you very much to our parent helpers and Miss B for giving up their time to come with us. On Friday the children made a slideshow to summarise and share some pictures of our week. Enjoy!

Welcome to 2019!

Welcome to Room 7's blog for 2019! It has been a very busy couple of weeks with lots of sport to keep us active, as well as trying to get into routines in the classroom.

Everyone is very excited for camp next week! Let's hope we have great weather for it!

We had our triathlon event on Friday afternoon and what an awesome effort everyone put in to their event/s. I have heard from lots of people that it has been a great fundraiser for camp, so it might become a regular thing!

Here are some photos from the triathlon as well as some place value activities we have been doing for maths.
